2010-11 Preview: Nashville Predators

2010-11 Prediction 10th Western Conference

The Predators finished the 2009-10 season in 7th place in the Western Conference with a 47-29-6 record and 100 points. The Preds have always been a strong defensive team and that certainly will not change this season. They did lose D Dan Hamhuis this off season but still have 2 of the top defensemen in the West in Shea Weber and Ryan Suter. The offense on the other hand is usually middle of the pack and doesn't look like it will improve this season after the losses of F Jason Arnott and Dustin Boyd. Don't expect the Preds to make a return appearance to the Playoffs this season.

Player to Watch: Pekka Rinne

  1. I would like to respectfully disagree with your player to watch. In my opinion it would have to be Patric Hornqvist. The guy is coming off a 30 goal season which is only 3 points off the franchise record. The kid is on his way to being the face of the franchise. He has even passed the expectations of former big name first rounders like David Legawand who didnt really pan out as a 2nd overall pick, but is still on the team.

  2. Joel while I certainly agree Patric Hornqvist is becoming the face of the franchise and it is big news for him to become the all-time points leader but I chose Rinne because this will be his first season as the full time starter now that Dan Ellis has moved on. like I said the Preds defense has always been strong but if Rinne isn't able to step up and take over the starting goalie spot the defensive numbers will certainly drop. Renne is going to have to step up and prove that he is the goaltender of the future if the Preds hope to return to the Playoffs soon.
